The key to learning is spaced repetition. With this in mind, the learning flow consists of two parts:
- The in-class recording of information (while seeing it for the first time)
- The out-of-class reviewing of information
While #1 happens only once, #2 should happen as many times as possible. Review sessions should be short yet frequent. If doing a longer review session before an exam, breaks should follow the pomodoro method of being frequent and regular.
A trap that is easy to fall into is leaving #2 until the week (or day) before the exam. Because of this, a day’s notes should be looked over before bed the same day, either through Quartz or by flipping through a notebook.
